May 2018 Chapter Meeting Minutes

The May 2018 Middle GA CPCU Society Chapter's Meeting was held on 5/17/2018 at Jeneane's at Pinebrook from 11:30 am - 1:00 PM. There were 16 members in attendance.

Old Business:

  • April Meeting Minutes Review and Approval – Vicki Shepard made motion to approve; Erin Tolbert seconded the motion.

  • Charitable Donation Requests

    • 1 request received from Shelley Erceg

    • Board will compile a list to be reviewed, as well. We would like to donate monitarily to one primary charity and would like to donate perhaps our volunteer time or other resources to additional charities.

  • Fundraising

    • Need a volunteer for a fundraising chairperson to take suggestions/ideas and turn them into plans!

  • Volunteer of the Year Award

    • On next board agenda

  • Mock Mediation

    • Winner!!!!$500.00 from CPCU Society

    • Profits from event $468.03

New Business:

  • Update from Leadership Summit – Vicki Shepard

  • Vicki discussed some of the themes from summit and some of the challenges that chapters of similar size face.

  • Discussed how we’d like to grow and get more participation in our chapter activities but bringing guests to our meetings and opening up our group to those who are just starting their CPCU testing journey. Vicki is putting together a committee for this to help reach out to these testers.

  • I-Day Update – Denise fill in for Katie

  • FRIDAY- October 19th  @ The Armory Ballroom—note change to Friday

  • Speakers are lined up, we are working on food

  • We are adding a new sponsorship opportunity for I-Day, in addition to meal sponsors.

  • We need to start contacting sponsors…volunteers??             

    • Denise Bowman will have all of the information put together and the contacts, you just send it out and are the point of contact.

    • Let Katie Snow or Denise Bowman know if you are interested and she will send you info and vendors/businesses to contact

    • If anyone has any vendors they would like for us to add to the list on sponsor contact list, please let someone on the board know.

  • Chapter Survey for Volunteer Involvement/Chapter Outing - sent on 5/16/2018. Please give us your input. It's anonymous and very helpful for the Board in planning upcoming events.

  • Webmaster Volunteer Needed - if anyone would like to assist with our website, please contact Vicki Shepard. If you can't do all of the work on the site, that's fine. We can find something for you to assist with that will better fit your time allowance.

  • Membership recruitment and retention contest!

    • Money and COE points awarded by National for participation each year

    • Points matrix – Points will be given for each area of participation in volunteer opportunities, attendance of meetings/gatherings, committee participation, bringing guests that are involved in CPCU, or insurance industry, etc. The more you participate, the greater your chance of winning!

    • Grand Prize of a paid beach getaway will awarded at Christmas Social

    • Details of trip being worked out and should be ready for announcement by our next meeting.

Denise ended the meeting with the start of lunch at 12:15 PM. Our next meeting will be on June21st at Jeneane's at Pinebrook. Speaker TBA.
