May 2018 Board Meeting Minutes

May’s Board Meeting was held at GFB on May 3, 2018 from 2pm-3:30pm. Members in attendance were Denice Bowman, Mike Lawrence, Katie Snow, Tammy Parker, Angie Madison, and Vicki Shepard.

Leadership Summit Briefing:

  • Vicki Shepard attended the 2018 CPCU Leadership Summit in Baltimore and shared some of the ideas that she brought back with her.

  • It would be great if more than just one officer could go. The information and networking that can be done at this event are invaluable.

  • As a chapter, we should take more formal and detailed notes and save them to an external source where all board members can have access.

  • Officers should know the bylaws of their chapter.

  • Efforts should be made to reach out to the “Parts to Completion” group are eligible for candidate membership.

  • We need a webmaster/media coordinator to research and use an app for group communication.

  • We may want to work on a Chaptergram-type newsletter (possibly use an app for this).

  • We would also like to expand to Twitter and Instagram.

Charitable Donation Requests

  • Open submission ended March 31st.

  • We have received one nomination – will discuss at the next board meeting

Mock Mediation – Ethics Awareness Month

  • $468.03 earned from this event

  • We won the National Award for Ethics Awareness Month!

  • Prize for event was $500

Chapter Outing to Celebrate Platinum COE

  • We discussed possible outing that included : Macon Bacon Baseball, Mercer Football, and Hockey Game

  • We will include a place for other ideas on the upcoming chapter survey

Volunteer Involvement

  • We will send a survey regarding ways to actively engage our members in our chapter.

  • One of the ideas we have is an Attendance Contest, with a grand prize being given at the end of the year. The prize will most likely be a free weekend getaway

  • A point system matrix will be developed and announced at the May Meeting. (Ex: 1 pt meeting, 3 pt activity, 5 pt volunteer)

  • Chapter and candidate members will be eligible

  • Vicki will contact King & Prince in St. Simmons for package offers.

I-Day Update

  • Date and venue are set and paid for (Oct 19/Armory Ballroom)

  • Speakers are booked

  • We will offer new sponsorship opportunities by providing a swag sponsor.

Christmas Social

  • Need to check with the Piedmont Brewery

  • Date is tentatively set for Dec 6, 2018.

Fundraising

Fundraising chair is needed. Hopefully our survey will help identify who may be interested.

Volunteer of the Year Award

We will discuss developing criteria for this award over the next few months.

Our next board meeting will be in July, date TBA.
