May 2015 Meeting Minutes

May’s meeting was held at The Brickyard and had 15 total attendees, including first time visitors Shelley Erceg (GFB), and Robin Cowart (GFB).  Both Shelley and Robin have 4 CPCU exams remaining and are currently studying for CPCU 540.  Also visiting again was Tammy Parker (GFB), who has one CPCU exam remaining.

Discussion:

  • A gift card was presented to Past-President Fred Swann in recognition of his leadership in 2014.
  • We have received our new Circle of Excellence plaque which will be on display at all Chapter meetings.
  • Minutes from the April meeting were approved.
  • The Chapter Member Directory is now available on our website.  Any additions or updates can be sent to Chapter Secretary (Dan Jones).
  • Breanne Manning has resigned from her post as Chapter Treasurer.Board member Pat Vickers has volunteered to fill the post for the remainder of 2015.Max Montgomery and Dan Jones have been updated on the chapter bank account to serve as back-ups for the Treasurer.
  • The Chapter now has social media accounts on Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn.
  • The Savannah Chapter has requested to associate with another Chapter.The CPCU Society has asked if we’d be willing to accept them as a sub-chapter.Chapter President Daniel Brown has sent several questions to Governor Barbara Williams before agreeing.
  • Congratulations to our former Chapter President (2013) Valerie Wynn, on receiving the 2014 Claims Person of the Year from the Atlanta Claims Association.
  • I-Day Updates – Denise Bowman
    • The Sanford Company has expressed interest in sponsoring the event, as well as providing a speaker.
    • Lanyards with badge holders have been donated by Georgia Farm Bureau.
    • The event is still tentatively scheduled for October 22nd, at the Georgia Sports Hall of Fame.A deposit has not yet been paid, but the venue has stated they will contact us first if another client requests to use that date, if we have not yet paid the deposit at that time.
  • Dan Jones shared updates from the 2015 CPCU Society Leadership Summit in April.These updates included ideas and changes for our chapter to consider to enable us to better meet our mission.The discussion included topics of meeting/event structure and frequency throughout the year, separate leadership meetings, use of committees, recruitment and retention methods, and dues/fees structure.

The meeting for June will be held at The Brickyard on June 18th at 11:30.
