January's Middle GA CPCU Society Chapter Meeting was held on January 18,2018 at the Brickyard Golf Club in Macon, GA. There were 22 members in attendance. Our speaker was Ping Chen, Master Tax Advisor with H & R Block, of Macon.

New Business:

The 2018 CPCU Chapter Officers and Board Directors, were introduced.

  • Katie Snow -         Vice President
  • Angie Madison -    Treasurer
  • Vicki Shepard -     Secretary
  • Mike Lawrence -   Board Director
  • Tammy Parker -    Board Director

CPCU Annual/Regional/Leadership Summit Meetings

The attendance schdule for National and Regional Meetings has been reviewed and is as follows: 

  • Vice President will attend the Annual Meeting. ***Vice President Office will assume the role of I-Day Chair and will appoint subcommittee chairs.***
  • Secretary attends Leadership Summit
  • President/Treasurer attends regional leadership meeting held yearly. All officers will attend every three years in Atlanta.

Chariable Donation Requests

Open submission period for charitable donation requests is 1/18/2018 - 3/15/2018.

Submission forms were distributed at the lunchon, will be e-mailed to the chapter, and are available on the website on the home page.

One charity will be selected for a monetary donation to be presented at I-Day. ***Additional charities will be reviewed for other possible donation types.***

Fundraising

Volunteers are needed for a fundraising chairperson to take suggestions/ideas and turn them into plans! If you are interested, please contact one of the board members for information.

Chapter Website

Volunteers are needed to maintain and update our chapter website through-out the year.

Contact at the National Society will provide assistance!

Volunteer of the Year Award

We are working on developing the criteria to make this an annual award. If anyone has any input for the criteria, please contact any of our Officers or Directors. We welcome your feedback!

Lowman Intern Scholarship

The Lowman Intern Scholarship is now taking applications.

Each year, the CPCU-Loman Education Foundation offers up to $2,000, per student, in financial aid to help students like you offset the costs of professional clothing, travel, housing and other expenses that may prevent you from pursuing an internship in the insurance industry.

To qualify for the CPCU-Loman Education Foundation Internship Financial Aid Program, you must:

  • ✔ Be a college sophomore, junior or senior
  • ✔ Have applied for, secured, or accepted a paid insurance-related internship that requires you to work an average of 30-40 hours/week for at least 8 weeks total
  • ✔ Be registered for internship credit
      *If your internship program is non-credit based, you are required to submit a letter of recommendation from a full-time faculty member that includes a statement that the internship is part of your academic studies
  • ✔ Be a US citizen

Our next meeting will be on Feb 15, 2018, at the Brickyard. Our speaker will be Wes Peavy, a Master Gardener with the Macon-Bibb Extension Office.
