March 2017 CPCU Board Meeting Minutes
This Board Meeting was held at Margarita's Mexican Restaurant on 3/7/2017 from 5 - 7 pm. Members in attendance were : Denise Bowman, Tammy Parker, Erin Tolbert, Katie Snow, Chris Orrison, Candi Faulk, and Vicki Shepard.
The Board accepted Erin Tolbert's resignation from the Secretary position and decided to present the Chapter with a nomination/vote via online communication. Denise nominated Vicki Shepard to fill the position for the remainder of 2017. Erin has expressed interest in taking Vicki's Director position, if Vicki moves into the role of Secretary. Voting will open on 3/8/2017.
Circle of Excellence Goals and Activities were reviewed
- Discussed the upcoming Ethic's meeting and the possibility of entering this year's Ethics contest. Mike Lawrence has an Ethics Game and Tammy Parker will be following up with him regarding that.
- We discussed ways to attract good speakers for our meetings that were relevant to trending industry topics.
- We discussed forming a recruitment/retention committee. Vicki Shepard will follow up with the Board with correspondence she has from National regarding this year's membership goals and contests.
- We have discussed different venues for upcoming luncheons and those are being followed-up on by various board members. We will present this info to the Chapter as it becomes available. We are losing money to the Brickyard for each luncheon that we have there. Our main goal is to get the cost down while still having a quality luncheon.
- Katie Snow, Vicki Shepard, and Tammy Parker will start working on plans for 2017 I-Day. Chris Orrison also will assist, as his schedule allows.
- Ideas are still needed for community involvement opportunities.
We reviewed duties of each member of the Board
- Denise and Tammy will each create a description of the position duties (chapter specific) for their respective offices. Katie and Vicki have created this for the Secretary and Treasury positions.
- Vicki will keep the Chapter Website updated and Denise will keep the Chapter Facebook Page updated. The Board is still determining how often each of these needs to be updated.
- The Board will work work collectively to create a list of upcoming speakers and events to be released in the near future.
- Chris is looking into the details regarding the Chapter running a CPCU Recruitment/Retention tent at GEICO's upcoming 5K event.
- Chris is also looking into potential sponsors for our monthly meetings.
- Katie and Candi are checking into prices for a possible Chapter t-shirt.
- Katie will pay the needed Lifetime Membership Dues for the Chapter.
