August 2014 Chapter Meeting Minutes

Our meeting started Thursday, August 21st shortly after 11:30am with the opening by Fred Swann, Chapter President.

Fred introduced and welcomed our newest completer, Stanley Fluellen, from GEICO.

Dan Jones gave an update on our planning for I-Day.  The date has been changed to Tuesday, October 28th.  The time is tentative at 8am to 4pm, although we may not go all the way to 4pm.  One speaker is confirmed and lunch will be included with the meeting.

Daniel Brown gave a recap of what we do at regular meetings for the benefit of new attendees. He stated our Facebook page is up and running, and encouraged us all to check it out and ‘Like’ the page.  He also encouraged us to view the I-Day information on the Chapter website.  Sponsorship for I-Day has brought in $2800 so far, with Paces Restoration and LexisNexis as the main sponsors.  He stated that we have ‘Pay Pal’ working on the site as well, which can be used for monthly meeting payments.  Daniel also advised that our meeting minutes will be posted on the website.

Items for the ‘Circle of Excellence’ are due 12/31/14.  New officers are welcome to join and a list of activities are due 1/15/15.

Fred reminded us that there are only two regular meetings left this year; September 18 and November 20.  October we will have I-Day on 10/28 and 12/2 is our tentative date for the Christmas Social (tentatively planned for The Brickyard; Max is confirming).

The business meeting was then closed.

After lunch, our speaker was, Toni Slade, Founder of Project Giving, Inc.  She spoke about their annual fundraiser, the ‘Retro Night Glow,’ thanking Georgia Farm Bureau and GEICO for their continued support.  GFB associates signing up for the run will be given a gift bag and GEICO associates can get $2 off registration if completed on-line before 9/3 (using the code ‘HUMPDAY’).

Thanks to Brian Adams for taking the minutes in my absence.

Chris Orrison, CPCU, AINS, INS, API, AIS
