April 2015 Meeting Minutes

The meeting was held on Thursday, 4/16/15, at the Macon-Bibb Convention & Visitors Bureau at 450 MLK Jr. Blvd in downtown Macon. Our speaker was Monica Smith, CMP, CASE, CDME – President & CEO of the Macon-Bibb CVB.

Attendance:

  • 18 total attendees
    • 17 Chapter members/candidates
    • 1 speaker – Monica Smith, CMP, CASE, CDME – President & CEO of the Macon-Bibb Convention & Visitors Bureau.

Discussion:

  • Old Business
    • March meeting minutes approved.
    • Chapter Member Directory has been completed.A PDF link will be sent to all Chapter members.
    • The old Chapter banner has been located, and will be determined if it is too outdated to use (logo, color scheme, etc.).If outdated, we will pursue getting a new banner for use at events such as I-Day.We will also soon be receiving the Circle of Excellence medallion to add to our Chapter plaque.
    • Received Society approval to proceed with publishing of CE self-study course developed by Chapter Vice-President Chris Orrison.The DOI has already approved the course, and the material will be uploaded to our Chapter website shortly.Details regarding proctored exams will follow.This course also provides opportunity for those not directly involved in our Chapter, and can be offered for a small fee ($3 or $6).
    • Chapter Ethics Awareness Month activities were submitted to the Society on 4/2/15, as our entry for the $500 prize.
  • New Business
    • I-Day 2015 Updates:
      • Logo and sponsorship request materials are nearing completion.  We will soon begin approaching potential sponsors, and marketing the event to attendees, including a “Save the Date” communication with a brief survey to capture topic interests.
      • We are tentatively scheduled for 10/22/15 at the Georgia Sports Hall of Fame in downtown Macon.
    • Member Retention Challenge – The Society is offering an incentive for the following goals that will enter the Chapter into a drawing from which 20 chapters will be selected at random to win $500 for chapter events and expenses:
      • Recruit at least 51% of 2014 new CPCU designees in the Chapter area to become full CPCU Society members.
      • Retain at least 94% of the Chapter’s 2014 membership by 5/31/15.
    • Congratulations to Chapter member Laura Langham who gave birth to Emmy Elizabeth Langham on 4/8/15.Emmy weighed 7lbs, 9oz, and was 20” long.
    • ***Attending members agreed to end the standing reservation policy.Going forward, all attendees must register via Eventbrite.***

 

The meeting for May will be held at The Brickyard on 5/21/15 at 11:30.
